Hurricane Gonzola. Is Tropical Storm Hanna Forming Waiting in the Wings? Severe WXR Tonight Nashville

Let's start with Hurricane Gonzola

Currently Gonzola is intensifying as he passes through the Leeward Islands on his way to the Virgin Islands. Hurricane Warnings are up and posted.

Recon went into Gonzola and he was soon upgraded. What impresses me about this storm is that he took his time building his structure at the same time that it was intensifying in strength. A well built, organized hurricane that has convection dead center in the middle and was able to fight off dry air intrusion is a hurricane to worry about.

Note how well successfully Gonzola fought off that dry air that was trying to wrap around him. In fact, he just swallowed up a patch of dry air to his southwest in one good gulp.

One reason I like this old school loop is how beautifully it illustrates the changes over a 12 hour period.

Before... I highlighted the dry air in YELLOW

Now... poof... GONE is the dry air

Remember something... this is an intensifying hurricane that is passing through the islands as in over land and being watched on awesome radar imagery.

Great image posted earlier by Jim Williams on Twitter. Says it all.
Aside from the eye, look at the banding..

Forecast to turn up into the ocean.

Long term... Bermuda may have a second dance with a tropical system ...

For now there are other things to worry on as much can happen between here and there.

As Gonzo is busting out and intensifying rapidly he will make the turn sooner rather than later.
Strong storms are more likely to turn north.. his intensification may have spared most of PR.

Map above shows you how close Gonzo is ...not far out like Invest 91L

Beautiful blue view.

Everyone wants to know if Gonzo can bust out and head for South Florida.

See this long, strong cold front that is causing all sorts of severe weather tonight? So strong and severe is the weather that TWC suspended their programming to go live with Cantore in the studio .. while Norcross is covering the tropics.

That cold front that is going to produce severe weather tonight & tomorrow..
... may be sparing the SE a hit from a Major Hurricane.
And, yes Gonzo could go major...

Models are so tightly clustered it's barely worth talking about them...

Further out in the Atlantic is Invest 91L and the models are a bit wider spread...

Hasn't formed yet but that's early model output..

For now a much stronger Gonzalo is IN the islands than previously expected..
There was talk this morning it would intensify rapidly past the islands.
Next under estimate a storm...

As for never under estimating.... never underestimate a nasty squall line racing through the South.

Nashville is under the gun... so is Clarksville and many other places.

Pay attention to your apps... websites and local weather.

The images below are from Mike's site where he gives you the option to put in your city..
Use whatever means you need to stay on top of this breaking weather

Again............ask me if the front will pick up Gonzalo.

Answer: The front that knocked TWC's reality weather shows off the air...
That front will pick up Gonzo.... sooner or later.

Either way he's a beauty to watch from a distance...as is the line of storms slicing through the South.
So far people have died.. more will and cat adjusters will be very busy the next week or so..
as the South cleans up.

Ps... I'll be back to update as needed on Gonzola & Severe Weather and do NOT forget Invest 91L following along quietly sneaking in to our part of the world...

Hope people in TN and KY get lucky tonight...
